Also known as a tuxedo, the dinner suit is mainly considered evening wear and used for very specific occasions and formal environments. For example, it is not unusual for gentlemen to don a dinner suit to dine in the best hotels in Europe.

The classic colours for a dinner suit are blue and black, with inserts such as striped outseams on the trousers and satin on the revers. Along with a bow-tie, a cummerbund that encircles the waist where the shirt meets the trousers is obligatory. In recent years, the dinner suit has entered the bridegroom’s wardrobe, especially for civil weddings or weddings that take place in the evening. The line is cleaner now compared to the traditional look, with an updated jacket length and use of different shades of blue.
